2018 Spelling Bee



The Station Square Shopping Centre Spelling Bee is back for another year and we are inviting all local schools to participate.

Every year we invite all local schools on the Fraser Coast to register their school to participate. Expression of Interest & Registration forms have been dispatched to all local schools, see below if you wish to download your form.

Category 1    Grade 3 & 4
Category 2    Grade 5 & 6
Category 3    Grade 7 & 8
Category 4    Grade 9 & 10

The Spelling Bee is divided into 4 school grade categories with each having words of different difficulty levels to spell during the heats and finals.
Given that our categories comprise of 2 or more different year levels, we strongly recommend registering a team that comprises of all year levels in the category; however this is not compulsory.

We kindly ask that each school only register a maximum of two teams per category, to keep the heats to a reasonable length
Each student entered into the Station Square Spelling Bee will receive a ‘goody bag’ and certificate.
There are fantastic prizes to be won for the winning students, as well as the winning school for each category.

We request that all students and schools, whom register to take part in the 2018 Station Square Spelling Bee keep the following important dates:


Expression of Interest – 5pm Friday, 31 August 2018
Registrations Close – 5pm Thursday, 13 September 2018
Grade 3 & 4 – 9am Saturday, 13 October 2018
Grade 5 & 6 – 11am Saturday, 13 October 2018
Grade 7 & 8 – 9am Saturday, 20 October 2018
Grade 9 & 10 – 11am Saturday, 20 October 2018
Semi-Finals – 9am Saturday, 27 October 2018
Finals – 11am Saturday, 27 October 2018

Please bear in mind the Spelling Bee will commence at a certain time each day, however only a limited number of school teams can compete at the same time. The 11am time may change depending on the number of schools interested.

We ask that in representing their school, students partaking in the Spelling Bee dress in their formal school uniform for the Spelling Bee competition.

A team registration form will be mailed out to all schools that submit an Expression of Interest Form, they will also be available at Station Square Centre Management.

We ask that all schools, parents and students read these Terms & Conditions thoroughly as they outline how this year’s Spelling Bee will run!
